everal people were injured when a Transjakartabus and a Kopami Jaya mini bus collided at the Jl. Gunung Sahari intersectionin Central Jakarta at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
'Some of the injured passengers have been taken to several different hospitals for treatment," Traffic Police law enforcement unit chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sakat told kompas.com, adding that the accident claimed no lives.
According to witnesses, the two buses collided because the Kopami Jaya mini bus ran a red light. Sakat said the mini bus driver fled the scene and was still at large.
The front of the Transjakarta bus was damaged and the Kopami Jaya mini bus overturned.
The Transjakarta bus driver, Jumadi, said he had been unable to avoid hitting the Kopami Jaya bus.
"I tried to veer left and break, but we were too close and we ended up crashing anyway," he said.
Jumadi added that his bus had recently passed a roadworthy test. (fss)
