'From July 22 to 29 there were 53 accidents with 67 victims,' Jakarta Police traffic director Sr. Comr. Restu Mulya Budiyanto said on Wednesday.
More than 7,000 police officers were deployed under the so-called Operation Ketupat to maintain security and public order during the Islamic holiday.
Restu added that personnel were also deployed to maintain security at some of the city's recreational sites.
'We are now focusing on recreational sites like Ragunan Zoo, Taman Mini [TMII] and shopping malls,' he said.
