Depok murder suspect faces death penalty

olice said they would lay multiple charges against aman who allegedly tortured and stabbed to death a grocery store owner in Pitaravillage on Thursday.

Surhandi, 42, was arrested by the police only a day after 37-year-old Ali Wafa Yusuf was found dead in his store with several major injuries to his stomach and chest on Thursday morning.  

Comr. Agus Salim, a detective at the Depok Police Office, said police would indict the suspect on charges of having violated Article 351 of the Criminal Code on torture and Article 338 on premeditated murder because, according to the police investigation, the suspect and another man planned the murder beforehand.

The suspect may face the death sentence,'€ he said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
