he Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) has decreased the status of Mount Kelud in Kediri, East Java, from 'alert' to 'normal'.
PVMBG head Hendrasto, however, said he expected people to stay away from the crater, as it remained dangerous.
'I also warn them [residents and climbers] to not go to rivers near the mountain,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
He explained that despite the return to normal status, possible dangers still lingered for residents and climbers, such as the potential for cold lava floods to occur.
Therefore, Hendrasto said, the PVMBG would install cameras at certain locations near the mountain's rivers, such as the Lahar Pulo river in Plosoklaten subdistrict in Kediri and the Sumbersari river in Nglegok subdistrict in Blitar, East Java, to monitor such threats. (alz)
