ow-cost carrier Citilink Indonesia is optimistic that it will reach its target flight frequency of 200 flights a day with the arrival of its 27th Airbus A320 aircraft.
'As part of Citilink's Mega Leap program, we will continue adding aircraft to our fleet until the number of planes in our armada reaches 50 by 2017,' Citilink president and CEO Arif Wibowo said on Tuesday, as quoted by kontan.co.id.
The arrival of the new aircraft is part of the carrier's efforts to dominate the domestic flight market.
Aside from that, Citilink is continuing to increase the frequency of its flights, including an increase on the Jakarta'Batam route from three to four flights a day, as well as eight flights a day from the previous seven on the Jakarta'Surabaya route.
The carrier will also add more flights to its Yogyakarta'Pekanbaru, Malang'Bandung, Malang'Banjarmasin and Malang'Lombok routes on August 25, which are currently still in the process of authorization.
Citilink's latest A320 arrived in Indonesia on Thursday, Aug. 14. Previously, the carrier received its 26th A320 aircraft on July 29. Citilink is targeting a total fleet size of 32 planes by the end of 2014.
The low-cost carrier is a subsidiary of state-owned flag carrier Garuda Indonesia. It has operated separately from its parent company since 2012. It is also the only carrier that flies from both Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta. (dyl/ebf)
