The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened on a positive note in Wednesday's first trading session, climbing 0.28 percent to 5,179.46.
As many as 95 stocks traded on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) made gains in the morning while 37 stocks saw losses and 87 stocks remained stable, kontan.co.id reported.
The volume of transactions involved 301.602 million shares with a total value worth Rp 278.78 billion (US$23.97 million).
Shares in seven out of 10 sectors strengthened by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, with finance recording the highest growth, rising 0.52 percent, followed by trade and consumer products with 0.36 percent and 0.34 percent growths, respectively.
The LQ45 index's biggest gainers during the opening session were PT Ciputra Development (CTRA), PT Matahari Department Store (LPPF) and PT Summarecon Agung (SMRA).
Meanwhile, PT Pakuwon Jati (PWON), PT Express Transindo (TAXI) and PT PP London Sumatra (LSIP) were the index's biggest losers. (nfo)
