he Bekasi municipal administration officially demoted Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) head Henry Malinso Samosir from his post on Thursday for embezzling funds that had been earmarked as salary bonuses for subordinates.
Henry is suspected of embezzling up to Rp 690 million (US$58,823) from a total of Rp 1.041 billion allocated to 1,739 subordinates from April through June of this year.
'I am very disappointed. This is a serious violation that should not have been committed, especially by a city official,' Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi said in his office on Thursday during Henry's demotion proceedings, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
To date, Henry has returned Rp 290 million to the municipal administration.
Hundreds of Bekasi administration officials were present during the proceedings. Rahmat said that the officials were invited so that they could learn from the case.
