olkar Party advisory council head Akbar Tandjung has said that his party will not leave the Red-and-White Coalition even though the Constitutional Court has rejected all the demands made by the coalition's leaders, Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa, in their lawsuit, which alleged widespread fraud during the July 9 election.
However, Akbar said that he accepted the court ruling in spite of being disappointed at the panel of judges led by Hamdan Zoelva for neglecting the alleged widespread fraud that occurred during the election.
'Although we will stay outside the government, we will strengthen our democracy by making sure the checks-and-balances system works,' said Akbar on Thursday as quoted from tribunnews.com.
He said the coalition would stay solid although it experienced a big loss at the court.
Coalition spokesman Tantowi Yahya previously said that the court's decision did not reflect substantive justice in Indonesia. The coalition, therefore, would continue its struggle and carry on with legal measures. (alz)
