osing vice-presidential candidate Hatta Rajasa has told supporters of his candidacy alongside Prabowo Subianto to heed the Constitutional Court's (MK) ruling to maintain peace and national unity.
"I call on all PAN [National Mandate Party] members and sympathizers to respect the decision," Hatta said Saturday via his Twitter account, @hattarajasa.
Hatta, who is PAN's chairman, also asked all parties to look to the future to help the nation to progress and develop.
"We must avoid rifts among the people and strengthen our togetherness, whatever our backgrounds are," he added.
The court rejected on Thursday evening all the claims brought in a lawsuit filed by Prabowo and Hatta.
The former economic coordinating minister underlined the fact that differences should not prevent people from uniting.
"Our differences and diversity have caused this nation to come together, eradicating the tyranny and cruelty of colonialism," he said.
Hatta emphasized that the country's success lay in its ability to nurture those differences and turn them into strengths. (nvn)
