Police seek owners of Unimog trucks

T

he Jakarta Police are currently trying to identify the owners of the three Mercedes-Benz multi-purpose Unimog medium-duty trucks confiscated by the police on Thursday after they tried to force their way through the barbed-wire barricades isolating areas surrounding the court building on Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat in Central Jakarta.

Spokesperson Sr. Comr. Rikwanto told reporters on Friday that the number plates of the vehicles indicated that they were from outside Jakarta '€” two from Bandung, West Java, and one from Depok but the identification numbers and chassis numbers were not listed anywhere.

'€œWe will ask for assistance from our neighbors, the West Java Police and the Depok Police,'€ he said.

On Thursday, the police arrested four protesters, one of whom was the driver of one of the Unimogs, and have detained them for questioning.
