Toy photographer Seno Haryo refuses to rely on gadgets for the creativity that has got his name into the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) last year as the sole member of his profession.
Seno, who spends most of his time at his studio in Kemang, South Jakarta, has loved photography and Star Wars since his teens.
He collects 1:6 scales of Star Wars action figures and recreates scenes from the canon.
A movie and comic buff, the independent photographer for US-based action figure manufacturer Sideshow Collectibles also photographs toys including Indiana Jones, DC Universe and Marvel Universe heroes, Japanese characters and mecha (robots) from comics and animated movies.
When it comes to communication gadgets, however, Seno prefers to keep only the essentials for his work.
Black Macbook
I rely on my laptop to edit photos and videos and to present work to clients.
I use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for photo editing and graphic design. For video editing, I prefer to use Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects, and Autodesk Maya for 3D modeling and animation.
I don't have any games on my laptop because it is strictly for work. All my games are installed on my PC at work and at home.
Nikon D800
My camera is among the few gadgets I always carry with me. I use Nikon D800 with general specs: full frame DSLR, 36.15 megapixels, ISO 100 to 6400, 51 point AF system, continuous shooting 4fps-6fps, 1080p video at 30, 25 or 24 fps.
I take my camera for survey purposes outdoors, and use it for jobs both in and out of the studio, on average three to four times a week.
Cellular phone
I still use my old Nokia 6120 Classic. I only need my phone to send text messages and to make calls. It is not a smart phone, so I don't have any mobile applications apart from the Android emulator I installed on my laptop and desk computer.
For chat and social media I use Whatsapp, Line, Path and Instagram on my PC and laptop.
