T Sigma Cipta Caraka, or Telkomsigma, a subsidiary of state-run telecommunication provider PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), is set to expand its network into East Timor via the construction of a new data center in Bali.

"We are going to develop a data center in Kaliasem, Bali, to support our networks in East Timor," Telkomsigma president director Judi Achmadi said Monday as quoted by kontan.co.id.

The firm plans to set up a data center with three-tier capacity in a 500 square meter area in Kaliasem.

Judi said that this expansion plan would help the company reach its year-end revenue target, which stands at Rp 2 trillion (US$172 million).

The Kaliasem data center was projected to commence operations by the end of 2014 to immediately service the market in East Timor, he added.

In addition, Judi said that Telkomsigma was currently completing three mega data center projects in Batam, Riau Islands, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, and Bekasi, West Java.

The projects in Batam and Balikpapan are scheduled to completed in the fourth quarter of this year, while the Bekasi data center is slated to finish in early 2015.

Judi declined to comment on how much the company was investing to build the data centers, but he said Telkomsigma had allotted Rp 1 trillion in capital expenditures for the 2014 fiscal year. (nfo)
