State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan says state construction companies are ready to expand their businesses into Jordan to develop housing, road infrastructure and bridges, shopping centers and hotels in the Middle Eastern country
tate-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan says state construction companies are ready to expand their businesses into Jordan to develop housing, road infrastructure and bridges, shopping centers and hotels in the Middle Eastern country.
'All state-owned construction companies, except PT Hutama Karya, have received invitations from Jordan to carry out projects in the country. The offers are being considered,' Dahlan said, as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta on Thursday.
A delegation of representatives from Jordan, namely Jordanian Public Works Minister Yahya Kisbi, Association of Jordanian Housing Developers head Ndal Ali Dawoud and former Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Zainulbahar Noor, handed out the invitations in a meeting with the state-owned enterprises minister at the Public Works Ministry on Thursday.
Dahlan said all of the state construction companies, except Hutama Karya, would meet with the Jordanian representatives. 'It will be up to the state construction companies to find out which projects are appropriate and profitable for them in Jordan,' he said.
Dahlan further said Jordan was a relatively safe country and many wealthy businesspeople from the surrounding countries, such as Iraq and Syria, worked and invested in the country due to its safety and good economy.
'Aside from infrastructure, the construction companies can help construct hotels by the Dead Sea,' he said.
Meanwhile, Kisbi explained to Dahlan that Jordan needed Indonesian contractors, who were widely reputed in infrastructure construction across several Middle Eastern countries. (dyl/ebf)
