our Indonesian pairs in the quarterfinal round failed to advance further on Friday, leaving Tommy Sugiarto the only representative of the team in contention at the BWF World Championship in Copenhagen.

Tommy secured his semifinal ticket with a 22-20, 21-19 win over Eric Pang on Friday but teammates failed to follow suit later.

Men'€™s doubles pair Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro lost to Kim Ki-jung/Kim Sa-rang 14-21, 13-21. Mixed doubles pair Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto were sent packing by third seeds Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen of Denmark 12-21, 22-20, 18-21.

In the women'€™s doubles, Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Anggia Shitta Awanda/Della Destiara Haris also crumbled against Japan'€™s Reika Kakiiwa/Miyuki Maeda 19-21, 13-21 and China'€™s Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei 12-21, 15-21 respectively.

Tommy'€™s title chance looked to be hanging in the balance on Saturday with him having to tackle second seed Chen Long whom the Indonesian has only beaten once in their seven meetings. The match was scheduled to take place at 10 p.m.

Even if he survives, he will face another steep task with Lee Chong Wei, the world'€™s number one from Malaysia whom he has never beaten, being the most likely opponent in the final. Chong Wei faced Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the other semifinal match.
