engah Ilir Police officers have arrested two Jambi residents for having allegedly stockpiled fuel in an operation conducted amid severe fuel shortages that have hit a number of regions across Indonesia over the past several days.
The two suspected hoarders arrested are Hendrik Saputra, 32, and Lilik Suhendri, 41. Both are residents of Pelayang Tebat in Lubuk Mandarsah village, Tengah Ilir district, Tebo regency, Jambi.
'They have been taken into custody for further investigation,' said Adj. Comr. Ridwan Hutagaol, head of the criminal detectives unit at the Tebo Police precinct, on Sunday.
He said that during the raid police also confiscated an amount of diesel and premium from the perpetrators.
'We seized 785 liters of diesel and 705 liters of premium,' said Ridwan, adding that the police would use them as evidence in the follow-up investigation of the case. (ebf)
