AKARTA: Indonesia is still lagging behind the Philippines and Singapore in terms of its international quality of insurance agents, an insurance agent organization said recently.
Million Dollar Roundtable (MDRT) Indonesia country chair Lucy Dewani said that this year Indonesia listed only 763 international-level insurance agents. The Philippines has 1,000 agents and Singapore 800.
She hoped that in 2015 Indonesia could increase its number of international-level insurance agents to 1,000.
'Fortunately, though, more Indonesian agents have increased their awareness of the importance of improving the quality of their services. We can see this by the annual increase of MDRT members,' she said.
Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) chairman Hendrisman Rahim said that his organization had targeted the number of insurance agents with national and international stature in the country to reach 500,000 people. Currently, the organization has 290,000 insurance agents on both levels.
'On average, the national growth rate of life insurance agents on national and international levels increases more than 10 percent per year,' she said.
