n this week's action in the Apple Coal JCA League 2014-15, GMIS and Metro Indians posted comfortable victories, while Challengers won a close game over Ceylon.
A swashbuckling 50 runs off 15 balls by master blaster Naresh Gupta and a belligerent 109 runs by run-machine Pratyush Chaturvedi made Senayan Lions' score of 245 runs look paltry.
GMIS won against Senayan by four wickets with more than five overs to spare. Such was the dominance of the two batsmen that at one stage GMIS was 201/1 in 20 overs.
Senayan bowlers had something to cheer about when they took five quick wickets, including three wickets in one over by Amit. But it was too little too late.
Earlier, sent in to bat, Senayan posted a competitive 245/5 in 35 overs. Southpaw Amar Kapadia was unbeaten on 68 while Faisal Hashmi also made 68 runs. Diwakar took two wickets.
At Cibubur, Metro Indians continued their impressive run this season with a comfortable 42-run win over Jaguars. Electing to bat first, Metro propelled their score from 136/4 in 24 overs to 233/6 in 35 overs.
Sakhti scored 56 and Sala made 38 runs. Juni and Sasi picked up two wickets each. Jaguars lost three quick wickets inside 12 overs and ultimately were all out for 191 runs in 33 overs.
In an earlier match at Cibubur, Challengers won a close game against Ceylon, winning by 19 runs. Choosing to bat first, Challengers posted 208 runs on the board with Sunil Samtani scoring 50 and Wayne making 46 runs. Raja and Rajeev took three wickets each. Ceylon recovered from 55/4 in 12 overs to reach 139/5 in 24 overs, before throwing the last five wickets in eight overs for the addition of 50 more runs. Ceylon was bowled out for 189 runs in 32 overs. Rajan and Jagan took three wickets each.
WISCI, GMIS and Jakarta Barbarians lead Division I, while Metro Indians, Fez Rebels and TKCC lead Division II.
