he West Java Prosecutors' Office has named Sumedang Regent Ade Irawan a suspect in graft allegations connected to a series of trips he took when he served as Cimahi City Council (DPRD) speaker.
Prosecutor Heru Widjatmiko said that Ade Irawan's suspect status followed a series of leads. The prosecutor has named nine other suspects in the case.
'The allegations relate to the misappropriation of Rp 1.7 billion of state funds,' he said on Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.
He added that prosecutors were still gathering evidence.
The case originated from a Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) audit that reported the suspected spending of Rp 1.74 billion on trips for the Cimahi DPRD speaker. (dic)
