The hope of bringing closure to human rights abuses has been dashed now that the transition
team of president-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and vice president-elect Jusuf Kalla has turned down the proposal to reopen investigations into unresolved rights violations.
Now, only a few weeks before Jokowi's inauguration, rights activists continue to express their disappointment over the way the pair's camp has dealt with human rights issues, in spite of their rhetoric about resolving past rights abuses during the presidential election campaign.

So that's it then! Jokowi's presidency is as good as over before it has even officially started!
What with this, and the other news today that 16 of the new ministers will be political appointees from supporting political parties, it is clear that it's going to be 'business as usual' under Jokowi.
The old elite can heave a sigh of relief and get on with it.

This is the first hogwash I heard from the new team.
One hopes it's not developing into a habit. Munir's case is closed after the sentencing of Pollycarpus?
What was the motive of this former pilot to kill Munir, whom he hardly knew?
