NCHEON, South Korea: The ongoing Asian Games are being used by some members of the National Olympic Committee to promote their events.
During the General Assembly meeting at Songdo Convesia, several booths had been set up spread the word about upcoming events.
The booths were taken down when the assembly ended, but the organizers of 2014 Asian Beach Games (ABG), which will be held in November in Phuket, Thailand, continued their promotional efforts, relocating to an area in front of the Main Press Center, where they distributed ABG paraphernalia to visitors.
'We will be open until tomorrow,' one of the booth's attendees said. She was part of nine-strong team from Bangkok, two of whom wore turtle costumes, the event's mascot.
Set to take place Nov. 13 to 24, the event will be the fourth ABG since it was first held in Bali in 2008. The event has also been held in 2010 in Muscat, Oman, and in Haiyang, China, in 2012.
