Comments on other issues: Syrian Kurds fleeing IS cross into Turkey

A Turkish official says the country has opened its border with Syria to allow up to 4,000 people, mostly Kurds, to cross to safety as they flee militants from the Islamic State (IS) group.

Izzettin Kucuk, the governor of Sanliurfa province, said Turkey decided to permit the Syrians to cross over Friday after reports emerged that militants were closing in on their communities. A day earlier, Turkish authorities had refused entry.

Your comments:

Most of the Kurds are Sunni, so why do they have to flee from IS, who are Sunnis just like them? Is it because Kurds have moderate tendencies toward religion, or is it because the Kurds are seen as having sympathetic tendencies toward foreigners?

A few months ago I thought the brutality of forcing someone to choose between faith and life had long gone from this supposedly civilized world, but these days I am aware that this kind of atrocity is still happening, committed daily by a group of people who believe that religious fundamentalism is the only option.

One may consider that the atrocities happening far away in Iraq and Syria aren'€™t our problem. Dead Iraqis aren'€™t our problem. Dead Yazidis aren'€™t our problem. Dead Syrians aren'€™t our problem.

Dead Kurds aren'€™t our problem. Until one day, those bloodthirsty butchers, by now experienced murderers, will return home from their foreign killings, full of ideas that they think they can impose on their own countries.

And in time, the spectacle of beheading will appear ever closer to home, wherever these people consider that their countrymen aren'€™t sufficiently pious. When the time comes, it will be too late to realize that the problem is actually directly on our doorstep.

The US and coalition countries intend to degrade and destroy Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Some members of ISIS may not want to be killed when they go to another country, some Indonesians within ISIS may want to go back to Indonesia and bring some of their ISIS friends with them, so yes, Indonesia should even be prepared for that.

Australia'€™s Prime Minister Tony Abbott decided to be proactive by sending the following to attack ISIS, this was mentioned in the news today. Also, Australia recently raised its terrorist threat level after Abbott discussed the development and dynamics of ISIS with key personnel.
