The casualties were Suhaeni Daeng Rimang and her 7-month-old baby, Fitrah. Residents found their remains after they put out the fire. The husband, Daeng Sarro, suffered severe burns and was treated at Syekh Yusuf Gowa General Hospital.
The fire reportedly engulfed the wooden house. Daeng managed to rescue two of his children.
'We suspect the fire was caused by a short circuit. The fire started in the roof of the house,' Gowa Police chief Adj. Sr. Lafri Prasetyono said on Monday.
