he Attorney General's Office (AGO) questioned 14 high-ranking Jakarta administration officials in its investigation into alleged graft in the procurement of Transjakarta buses in the 2012 fiscal year on Tuesday.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said he was not worried about his staff being summoned, most of whom were echelon 2 and 3 officials.
'I think it's normal for an official to be summoned by the AGO. He or she must heed the summons,' Ahok said as quoted by kontan.co.id at City Hall in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The deputy governor further said he was ready if the AGO needed him to act as a witness. He would also continue to observe the development of the case, he added.
'We will watch to see whether any officials are named suspects. If the next legal step disrupts our work performance, we will dismiss them,' said Ahok.
The AGO questioned 14 Jakarta administration officials as witnesses in the investigation of alleged corruption related to the procurement of Transjakarta buses worth Rp 150 billion (US$12.33 million) by the Jakarta Transportation Agency in the 2012 fiscal year.
Among officials summoned for questioning were the Jakarta administration's inspector general, Franky Mangatas Panjaitan; Jakarta development and environment assistant Wiriyatmoko; Jakarta legal bureau chief Sri Rahayu; Jakarta Financial Management Board head Endang Widjajanti; Jakarta environment and spatial planning deputy head Sarwo Handayani; and former Jakarta regional secretary Fadjar Panjaitan.
