Jokowi'€™s Cabinet line-up still up in air

P

resident-elect Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo says he has yet to finish his Cabinet line-up, as so far only two political parties have submitted ministerial candidates.

'€œIt'€™s not finished yet as the names are not in. [I'€™ve received names] only from two parties,'€ he said at City Hall in Jakarta on Monday.

He said one of the two parties was the Hanura Party. However, he refused to name the other political party.

He also rebuked speculation that he had a fixed allocation of ministerial posts for each political party. '€œI'€™ve never talked about the number of seats,'€ he said.

Earlier, Hanura and the National Awakening Party (PKB) claimed they had proposed the candidate names for the new Cabinet. Among the candidates are PKB chairman and Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar, PKB faction leader at the House of Representatives Marwan Ja'€™far and owner of the nation'€™s largest privately run airline of Lion Air, Rusdi Kirana.

Hanura said that the party, chaired by former Indonesian Military (TNI) commander and defense minister Wiranto, had submitted four ministerial candidate names to Jokowi, including party executive Yuddy Chrisnandi and lawmakers Iqbal Alan Abdullah, Susaningtyas Kertopati and Saleh Husin.

The party is eyeing three ministerial posts, including defense minister and a position at the National Intelligence Agency (BIN).
