JAKARTA: Members of the all-girl's music group, JKT48, have many hopes for Jakarta.
JKT48's 50-some-odd members are between 14 and 23 years old, and the group was created as a sister group to Japan's AKB48 (Akihabara48), which has a cult following of fans.
'The most unfavorable thing about Jakarta is the traffic,' said group member Naomi, who is Japanese and the first AKB48 member to launch an overseas career.
Another member, Melodi, said priority should be put on sanitation. 'I want to see a clean capital city and, therefore, people should stop littering,' she said.
The Jakarta administration has chosen the group, Jakarta48, as the ambassador for its Enjoy Jakarta tourism program.
