Menara, India XI, Ceylon  and Tigers win

n a weekend of high scoring matches, Menara, WPP-India XI, Ceylon and the Senayan Tigers registered wins in the Apple Coal JCA League 2014-15.

Menara held its nerves to beat GMIS CC in their backyard by five runs. GMIS needed nine runs off the last over with just one wicket in hand. A superb last over by Atul Kakkar went for just three runs. Earlier, a blistering start by Menara openers Harish Tiwari Mamaji (57 off 30 balls) and Hari Krishnan (38) rocketed Menara to 91 in 10 overs. A cameo of 39 runs off 21 balls by Jitin Joshi and a whirlwind unbeaten 46 runs (36 runs came in last two overs) off 23 balls by Atul took Menara to 286/8 in 35 overs. Diwakar took four wickets. GMIS'€™s run chase was spearheaded by master blaster Naresh Gupta (54) and run machine Pratyush Chaturvedi (95), who threatened to take the game away from Menara. Mamaji and Gajendra claimed the key wickets of Naresh and Pratyush respectively and kept Menara in the hunt with three wickets each. Mamaji and Atul shared the man-of-the-match award.

At Cibubur, Gaurav Pathak blasted a career best 141 runs to take WPP to a mammoth 303/7 in 35 overs. Rajan scored 35 runs. Ben Burgess and Benzo took two wickets each. Barbarians were all out for 237 runs, despite a brilliant start by them (93 without loss in 12 overs). Burgess (80) and Robert Baldwin (52) took the fight to WPP, but in the end fell short by 66 runs. Ashwin took five wickets, including a hat trick. Pallav claimed four wickets.

At Purwakarta, Ceylon registered their maiden win of the season by beating Indorama at their home ground by four wickets. Electing to bat first, Indorama made 191/8 in 35 overs, with Tripathi Ji scoring 48 and Sandeep Boora 40 runs. Fahim Bhai, Raja and Timothy took two wickets each. Ceylon reached the victory target in the 32nd over losing six wickets. Mukesh scored 58 and Timothy was unbeaten on 36 runs. Tripathi Ji took four wickets.

Tigers, chasing 78 runs for victory, stuttered to four wickets win over Jaguars. Ramdoni scored 20 not out. Earlier, Anjar and Fernandes Nato took three wickets. Sridhar top scored with 30 runs.

India XI, WISCI and GMIS lead Division I, while the Fez Rebels, Mavecrics and Metro Indians lead Division II.
