All party leaders to attend Jokowi's inauguration: MPR speaker

eople'€™s Consultative Assembly(MPR) speaker Zulkifli Hasan stated on Saturday that all leaders of politicalparties would attend the inauguration of president-elect Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodoand vice president-elect Jusuf Kalla, which is to take place on Oct. 20.

Among the leaders set to attend are Megawati Soekarnoputri of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of the Democratic Party, Muhaimin Iskandar of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Wiranto of the Hanura Party, Surya Paloh of the NasDem Party, Aburizal Bakrie of the Golkar Party, Hatta Rajasa of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Sutiyoso of the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI), Romahurmuziy of the United Development Party (PPP) and Prabowo Subianto of the Gerindra Party.

Zulkifli said that he believed that Prabowo, Jokowi'€™s rival in the July presidential election, would attend the inauguration despite currently being overseas.

'€œPak Prabowo will return on Sunday evening,'€ he said as quoted by Antara news agency after an inauguration rehearsal at the MPR compound.

Zulkifli added that Akbar Tanjung, a former speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), and Amien Rais, a former speaker of the MPR, would also attend the ceremony.

He claimed that the inauguration of the country'€™s seventh president was 99 percent ready.

He also revealed that Jokowi and Kalla had not requested anything special from him, adding that rehearsals would continue on Sunday.(alz)
