Rupiah strengthens to 12,044 per dollar in morning session

The rupiah interbank trade rate on Monday morning appreciated by 65 basis points to Rp 12,044 per US dollar.
"The strengthening of the rupiah in the morning trade is due to the country's stable political condition," Samuel Sekuritas analyst Rangga Cipta said as quoted by Antara news agency.
The Monday announcement that the People's Bank of China would provide US$32.7 in economic stimulus should also help strengthen currencies across Asia.
Separately, Monex Investindo Futures head of research Ariston Tjendra said that market players were no longer expecting the US Federal Reserve to increase its interest rate in the near future.
"Now market players are hoping that President Joko Widodo can develop infrastructure in the archipelago," Ariston said. (nfo)
