This is one of the main failures of President SBY in his 10 years as President '€” inaction and his failure to stop forest fires. Not only are people in Riau and Sumatra suffering pulmonary lung disease and asthmatic attacks, people on the west coast of Malaysia, Singapore and in the state of Sarawak are also suffering.

In fact, the beautiful serene island of Penang is covered in haze... I wanted to show my son the beautiful Penang Bridge II, the longest bridge in SE Asia, from our Silk Air flight but the bridge was not visible as it was covered in haze and smog!

I recall that President SBY was there and 14 suspects were announced as culprits for setting the forest fires, so far, only one Malaysian executive has been charged and fined US$1 million. What happened to the other 13? Was there corruption involved?

The President boasted he had solved the problem, but as soon as his brand new Boeing 737-BBJ2 presidential plane took off, the fires restarted. In fact, it was reported the Riau governor did not even attend his meeting.

Maybe these people will just kill themselves off with lung cancer and other pulmonary diseases. When they start dying, they'€™ll probably all be still in total ignorance of what is going on.

Weak law enforcement, forest fires causing flight delays and seriously affecting the health of toddlers will soon be a thing of the past once the new president holds power. Growing up as a child of the masses, I strongly believe he will be really upset at lame excuses.

Pay those who report fire starters; it should be effective with the wide use of camera phones. The regional image of Indonesia must no longer be soiled by the perennial issue of haze.
