Yamaha starts exporting sports bikes to Japan

P

T Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing will for the first time export 4,200 R25 motorcycles to its holding company, Yamaha Corporation, in Japan.

The shipments will begin with the first 120 motorbikes being delivered on Oct. 20 and will thereafter occur gradually through November and into December.

Yamaha Indonesia has produced the R25 sport motorcycle since the beginning of July this year in its Pulo Gadung plant. The facility has the capacity to produce up to 3,000 units of the R25 per month. The company has planned to offer 2,000 R25 motorbikes in the domestic market in the future, while the remainder are to be exported.

'€œJapan has been known as a country that is difficult to penetrate; imported vehicles must be of high quality,'€ Yamaha Indonesia assistant general marketing manager Mohammad Masykur told kontan.co.id on Friday. Sports bikes are used for daily purposes in Japan.

With this trust from Japan, Yamaha Indonesia has grown more confident about exporting its products to other destinations. '€œWe hope we can export to the European and US markets,'€ Masykur said.
