iznet Technovillage is an integrated high-tech modern village located in the Cimanggis area of West Java. Comprised of a Tier-3 green data center, plenty of A-grade office space and a full-service business center, the village aims to be the go-to place for research, telecommunications, start-up, media and outsourcing companies in need of a place for operations, research, media production and backup facilities.

Designed by leading Indonesian architect Andra Matin and internationally-renowned Denise Selinger of St. Legere Design International, the property was built in 2010 on 2 hectares of land, with 18,000 square meters of total building space, 11,210 square meters of which is Biznet'€™s data center. The rests encompasses the business center and office spaces.

The data center building represents the highlight of the entire technovillage. This facility is designed specifically to meet or exceed data reliability specifications for companies. It is directly attached to Biznet'€™s metro fiber-optic network, and has a Disaster Recovery Center for emergency purposes.

The center has a Tier-3 Data Center Certification, covering 6,000 square meters of data center space. It uses a dual-electricity power source with fully backed-up generators. Power sources include an N+1 Dynamic Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply (DRUPS). Temperature is maintained using an N+1 Precision Air Conditioning System.

To ensure data safety, the premises are equipped with round-the-clock digital CCTV, RFIP access card systems and security guards. Furthermore, the data center, along with the entire technovillage itself, is protected against earthquakes of up to 8.5 on the Richter scale. This is all to protect the 2,500 racks of sensitive data housed in the data center.

'€œWe want this to be a place where servers can always be accessed 24/7,'€ said Dwiyan Nugroho, Biznet data center'€™s sales supervisor. '€œWe aim at having a 50-percent data center occupancy rate by 2015.'€

A business center is available for companies in need of small to medium temporary rented spaces to conduct operations, including workstation areas and meeting rooms that accommodate four to eight people. The entire center is equipped with secretarial services, and has easy access to printers, phones, fax and the Internet.

Its more permanent rentable office areas cover Biznet'€™s 5,000 square meters worth of office space suitable for use as back office operations, call centers, TV and digital studios, disaster recovery places and research and development labs. The direct access to Biznet'€™s metro fiber optic network and the Biznet Technovillage data center allows for connections between head and branch offices.

'€œThese office spaces are a form of insurance. We have seven days'€™ worth of backup electricity from our DRUPS power supplies. Clients who have backup servers can also use our recovery center for help during emergencies,'€ Dwiyan said.

Biznet Technovillage itself is located in Gunung Putri, about 35 kilometers south of Jakarta'€™s central business district. Access to toll roads, public roads and public transportation abounds, with the development being located on the Bogor-Ciawi highway, and with the future development of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road 2 interchange nearby.

Some 50 percent of the total Biznet Technovillage landscape is reserved for green areas '€” natural parks, water gardens and open spaces '€” making for a green and comfortable working environment with an abundance of plants and trees.

Further underlining its commitment to making a green-technology complex is the way the company used only existing pallet wood to make its furniture, as well as its no-carpet policy for flooring and its use of LED lights to reduce power consumption.

The center used its wood pallets to import equipment from abroad before repurposing them to make interior features such as wall coverings, sofas, as well as office and coffee-shop cabinets. For flooring, the development used wood, stone and vinyl instead of carpet to provide a cleaner working environment.

The Technovillage'€™s general facilities include dining lounges and mini markets. Sports facilities and recreational areas are provided for all tenants to better enhance employee health and lifestyle.

Thanks to its wide range of facilities, Biznet Technovillage has been visited by representatives of many respected and well-known educational institutions, including Bina Nusantara University, Trisakti University, the University of Indonesia and many high schools.

'€œWe are glad that we can support Indonesian education and show students that Indonesians can build high-tech business facilities,'€ said Adi Kusma, president director of Biznet Networks. '€œWe hope that the students can learn more about the data center and see how it can support their growth in the future, for a better Indonesia.'€  (Prasiddha Gustanto)
