nlike previous Jakarta governors, acting Jakarta governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said at City Hall on Monday that he would not move to the official governor's residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta.
Ahok, who will automatically replace former governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo who is now the President, said he preferred to remain living in his private residence in Pantai Mutiara, North Jakarta because of his children's school.
'My current house is closer to my children's school,' he said, adding that the official residence would only be used to receive official guests.
Ahok, who became deputy governor two years ago, also chose not to reside in the official deputy governor's house in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
The acting Jakarta governor has been living in North Jakarta since he was a high-school student.
