he Jakarta administration and the City Council plan to hold a farewell ceremony for President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, who will leave his official governor's residence in Menteng for the Presidential Palace, both in Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Jakarta Council Speaker Prasetyo Edi Marsudi said after meeting with acting governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama at City Hall on Monday that he had discussed the plan to bid farewell to Jokowi, the former governor.
'We will accompany him when he moves from his official house in Menteng to the palace,' Ahok said, adding that he would discuss the details of the ceremony with council members later.
Prasetyo said that unlike Jokowi's inauguration event on Monday, the farewell parade would not involve a horse-drawn carriage. 'We will use a car,' he said.
Ahok said the city administration planned to conduct the ceremony on Tuesday. 'However, his schedule is too tight,' he said.
