orruptionEradication Commission (KPK) chief Abraham Samad has suggested that PresidentJoko 'Jokowi' Widodo not consider minister candidates with bad track records.
'We highly recommend the people be removed from Pak Joko Widodo's minister list. They would ruin the Cabinet's integrity if the president insists on appointing them,' Abraham said on Tuesday.
The statement was issued following Jokowi's decision to submit a list of 43 candidates to the KPK for screening. The assessment was delivered to the President for further consideration.
The move was among attempts to make sure that the Cabinet will comprise only people with integrity and clean track records.
It was reported that the KPK red-flagged a number of people who had been implicated in graft and advised against appointing any of them. A second set of names were yellow-flagged, meaning the people had the potential to become involved in graft, and the KPK also advised against appoint any of them.
Abraham also denied that his name was on the list.
Abraham is among people considered a perfect candidate for attorney general.
Jokowi is expected to announce his Cabinet soon, with many saying that who he appointed would be the easiest way to assess his way of doing business as the president.(dic)
