S

tate-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) officially established Angkasa Pura Retail on Wednesday to help boost the company'€™s non-aeronautical revenue and improve its services.

The subsidiary will focus on a number of businesses, such as duty free, food and beverage, graphic design, marketing communication and event organizing.

'€œIn the first phase, we are going to launch our F&B [food and beverage] business by opening our first coffee shop, Republik, at Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Airport [in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan],'€ Angkasa Pura Retail president director Teges Prita Soraya told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

In addition, AP I president director Tommy Soetomo said the newly established subsidiary should be able to manage 15 percent of areas in each airport AP I managed, to be used for its businesses.

Meanwhile, the subsidiary was currently working on its businesses including creating 11 original in-house brands like BACI, which was going to be the firm'€™s make-up and beauty store in every airport.

AP I manages 13 airports across the archipelago such as Adisutjipto International Airport in Yogyakarta, Ngurah Rai International Airport in the country'€™s tourist gateway Bali, Juanda International Airport in East Java, and Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in South Sulawesi. (++++)
