The body was found covered in plastic and a bed cover by a farmer on Tuesday morning. A mobile phone and cash in US dollars were found with the body.

On the mobile phone, the police found several photographs of the victim at Emerald Villas on Jl. Karang Sari in Sanur, which was apparently where the victim had been staying with his wife.

The police identified the victim as Robert Kelvin Ellis, 60, a British national well-known as Mr. Bob. Ellis is believed to have been living and working in Jakarta during the week and spending weekends in Bali.

Badung Police chief Adj. Comr. Komang Suartana said that police believed Ellis had been murdered but as of Tuesday evening they did not have any suspects.

'€œWe are still investigating the case,'€ Suartana told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday evening.

Suartana said that police had yet to find any motive for the murder. '€œOur team is still working, we are questioning several witnesses, including his wife,'€ he said.

Sanglah forensic team head, Ida Bagus Putu Alit, said that Sanglah received the corpse at 10:25 a.m. '€œFrom an external examination we allege that the victim died around 18 to 24 hours before being found. So, we believe he died on Monday between 4 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.,'€ Alit said.

An autopsy has been conducted. '€œWe found several bruises on the body, including to the right cheek and right ear,'€ he said.

'€œDeath was as a result of three open wounds to the neck and chin. One of the cuts severed a major blood vessel, causing death,'€ Alit said.
