ommunity unit (RW) 06 in Gandaria, Cilandak, South Jakarta, has imposed a curfew requiring the neighborhood's children to be home and studying by 7 p.m.
Community unit head Edy Karman said that a siren would go off at 7 p.m. to indicate the start of the curfew. He added that many students are known to hang out together at night, which was worrisome not only for their parents but also for the neighborhood that they lived in.
'During the curfew, RW 06 officials will check each house to make sure all children are safe at home and studying,' Edy said as quoted by tempo.co.
Edy added that all televisions must also be turned off so that children could focus on studying. 'If not, then the family must move the television into another room so it doesn't bother the children.'
He added that the initiative was to support Jakarta's Child-Friendly City (KLA) project.
