ice President Jusuf Kalla has reminded government officials that air conditioners (AC) in government offices should not be lower than 25 degrees Celsius to minimize operational costs.
'Everyone should not wear suits [indoors], so AC can stay at 25 degrees,' he told reporters at the vice-presidential office in Jakarta on Tuesday, adding that the regulation has already existed for years.
Kalla said that electricity was one of the biggest parts of the government's operational costs and a major part of electricity usage was usually dedicated to air coolers. He also told offices to control their use of water.
'Now I remind people again. Starting today,' he said.
Kalla said that office heads that refused to comply would be reprimanded.
