ity-owned bus rapid transit operator PT Transjakarta will be applying an e-ticketing system at all bus stops starting Nov. 1, an executive has said.
Currently, electronic ticketing has been applied on Corridor 1 serving Old Town to Blok M and 11 major bus stops.
PT Transjakarta president director ANS Kosasih said the full e-ticketing system would be introduced gradually.
'On Nov. 1, it will be applied on corridors 8 and 9, followed by corridors 2 and 3 on Nov. 22; corridors 5 and 7 on Nov. 29 and corridors 10, 11 and 12 on Dec. 13,' Kosasih said Wednesday at City Hall.
Passengers will have to use electronic money issued by six national banks, namely state-owned Bank Mandiri, Bank Nasional Indonesia (BNI), Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), city-owned Bank DKI and the privately-owned Bank Central Asia (BCA) and Bank Mega.
'We will start disseminating the information tomorrow [Thursday],' he added.
Each electronic-money counter worth Rp 20,000 (US$1.66) will be sold for Rp 40,000 at each bus counter.
