he United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Prioritizing Reform, Innovation, and Opportunities for Reaching Indonesia's Teachers, Administrators, and Students (Prioritas), deems that teacher management in Indonesia remains weak.
One of the weak points is the uneven distribution of teachers in the regions, causing varying educational product standards in the respective regions.
USAID Prioritas said that up until now, the majority of qualified teachers were concentrated in urban areas and very little of them taught on the outskirts of cities. Consequently, USAID Prioritas has recommended that the Indonesian government push all regional administrations in Indonesia to immediately improve teacher management.
USAID Prioritas facilitator Heri Riyadi said teacher management should be improved immediately so that education in regencies and cities could be of similar quality.
'Don't place qualified teachers only in city schools,' Heri said in Purbalingga, Central Java, on Wednesday.
