Talented teenage Ambonese linguist dies

ayatri Wailissa, a talented 17-year-old girl from Ambon, Maluku, who had mastered 14 foreign languages, passed away at Abdi Waluyo Hospital, Central Jakarta, on Thursday evening after undergoing four days of intensive treatment.

According to the doctor, Gayatri had a brain aneurysm.

'€œDr. Agus [who treated Gayatri] said that my daughter passed away due to an artery in her brain bursting. She had been treated for four days,'€ her father, Dedy Darwis Wailissa, said as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.

Before being taken to the hospital, he said that his daughter had complaining of a severe headache after participating in sports activities at Taman Suropati, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Gayatri'€™s remains will be flown to Ambon on Friday afternoon, he added.

Gayatri Wailissa once represented Indonesia at the ASEAN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in Thailand. (nfo)
