he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned property firm PT Bukit Jonggol Asri president director Richard Susilo as a witness for Kwee Cahyadi Kumala, a suspect in a graft case related to the issuance of permits for hectares of protected forest to be used for housing projects in Bogor regency, West Java.
'He was questioned for suspect KCK [Kwee Cahyadi Kumala], property developer PT Sentul City president director, who is also PT Bukit Jonggol Asri president commissioner,' the commission's chief of communication and information, Priharsa Nugraha, said, as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, the KPK questioned businessman Heru Tandaputra in its investigation into the same case.
On Sept. 30, the KPK named Cahyadi as a suspect in the case and took him into custody during a raid at a restaurant in Sentul City Culture Park. Cahyadi was arrested for allegedly influencing several witnesses in the graft case.
The KPK will charge Cahyadi with Article 5 or Article 13 of Law No. 31/1999 referring to Law No. 20/2001 on corruption eradication and Article 64 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
The articles regulate sanctions for anyone who gives or promises gratification to civil servants or state officials to influence them to violate rules they should adhere to as a public official. If proven guilty, sanctions are between one and five years' imprisonment and a fine of between Rp 50 million (US$4,116.96) and Rp 250 million.
The KPK also charged Cahyadi with Article 21 of Law No. 31/1999 referring to Law No. 20/2001 on corruption eradication and Article 64 of the KUHP for allegedly interfering with the commission's investigation into the case, which carries a sentence of between three and 12 years in prison and fines of between Rp 150 million and Rp 600 million.
