he third edition of the Standard Chartered Half Marathon (SCHM) will be held on Nov. 8 in Bumi Serpong Damai, on the outskirts of Jakarta, with organizers looking to raise donations for eye health.
'Registration fees will go toward the eye cause. We call it 'run for a reason', where we encourage people to have healthy lifestyles as well as nurture concern about social need,' Arno Kemaputra, Standard Chartered Indonesia country head of corporate affairs, told reporters on Tuesday.
He said that organizers were expecting some 3,000 participants to take part across four categories ' 21 kilometers, 10 km, 5 km and a fun run.
With the Indonesia Athletics Association (PASI) giving its support for the first time, SCHM organizers have arranged a one-day coaching clinic with the aim of educating participants on how to prepare for the run.
The coaching clinic will present medics as well as national athlete Trianingsih, who is expected to share her experience in running with participants. The diminutive runner has won a total of eight gold medals at Southeast Asian (SEA) Games events since she first participated in 2003.
