opular Japanese character Doraemon, a robot cat that travels back in time from the 22nd century and befriends a young boy, Nobita Nobi, is set to come to Indonesia and share secret gadgets with fans for 100 days.
Animation International Ltd., a Hong Kong-based company that owns the Doraemon license, is set to present a fully fledged Doraemon experience through the Doraemon 100 Secret Gadgets Expo, to be held at Ancol Beach City Mall in North Jakarta from Nov. 28 to March 8.
'We are aware how big Doraemon is in Indonesia and how important Indonesians fans are [...] That is why we decided to bring the expo to Jakarta. This expo will provide Indonesian fans with a new experience for Doraemon fans. We hope that the fans can have a first-hand experience that is different from what they watch on TV,' Animation International Ltd. Indonesia representative office head Lynard B. Longcop told the press in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The expo will feature 100 Doraemon figures, secret gadgets and various real-life settings from the anime series, including the houses and rooms of its characters, such as those of Nobita and Suneo. Various kinds of merchandise will also be available for sale.
In addition to that, fans will be provided with the history of Doraemon and answers to various mysteries from the series.
'Doraemon's initial color was yellow and it actually had ears. But it later turned blue and did not have ears. Why was that? Fans will get the answer at the expo. It will also provide answers to questions such as whether or not Nobita ends up married to [friend and crush] Sizuka and the moments surrounding the events,' said Animation International Ltd. business development and licensing manager Helena Irma.
Longcop pointed out that early-bird tickets were on sale starting Tuesday, with ticket prices set at Rp 90,000 (US$7.47) for adults and Rp 55,000 for children aged 5-12 years old.
'We are giving a 20-percent discount for early-bird tickets, which are distributed through Alfamart, Alfamidi and Lawson. They can also be purchased online via myticketindonesia.com,' he added. (nfo)(+++)
