he Housing and Administrative Building Agency has prepared 600 low-cost apartments in various areas in the capital to accommodate squatters from riverbanks and reservoirs.
Agency head Yonathan Pasodung said Wednesday that 200 apartments in Komarudin, Pulogebang and Cipinang Besar Selatan in East Jakarta were ready to be occupied.
'The apartments will be occupied by squatters and their families, relocated from riverbanks in Cawang and Kampung Melayu in East Jakarta and Manggarai in South Jakarta next January and February,' he said.
According to Yonathan, his agency was now finishing construction of 580 apartments in two towers in West Jatinegara.
The city administration is now intensifying relocation to expedite flood mitigation projects.
