he National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has recorded that an earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale jolted the northern part of the Maluku Islands including West Halmahera regency for around five seconds. The epicenter of the quake was predicted to have occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers below the East Maluku Sea.
The BNPB recorded that the quake forced local residents to evacuate. There was no potential tsunami threat detected. (dic)(++++)
