Comments: Indonesia'€™s sambal love affair

N

strong>Nov. 16, p1

Sambal, which the dictionary describes as a hot relish in Southeast Asian cuisine made of vegetables or fruit and spices, is not merely a condiment that goes with food for Indonesians.

It has become an essential part of enjoying the complete experience of the nation'€™s cuisine, which is based on rice supplemented by sauces '€” the spicier the better.

Your comments:

Sambal is one of the compulsory dishes for an Indonesian. It makes every dish taste different.

Each city has its own sambal. In my opinion, sambal is good for health because it contains chilies which are in high vitamin C content. As we know, our bodies need vitamin C.

But as we know, too much of anything is not good for us, including sambal. Consuming too much sambal will cause several health problems.

Is Indonesian'€™s food identical with hot? Yes, absolutely.

I do agree with this. Most Indonesians like spicy food. So do I.

When Indonesians eat anything without chilies, it makes the food taste so strange, especially for spicy-food lovers.

Eating sambal is kind of like an obligation. Try to be careful consuming it, though. Don'€™t eat too much because it'€™s not good for you.
