Three traditional miners die in Jambi

hree people have died in a mining hole in Pulau Raman village, Muara Siau district, Merangin regency, Jambi, after they were poisoned from fog that was produced from their equipment.

Jambi Police chief Brig. Gen. Bambang Sudarisman said the traditional miners, identified as Bustami, 30, Fajar, 20, and Zulkifli, 25, entered the hole using equipment that ended up causing their death on Saturday.

Bambang said the leakage in the equipment was believed to have caused the deaths of the miners who were residents of Muara Bantan village, Renah Pembarap district, Merangin.

He said police had evacuated the victims who were then buried by their respective families on Sunday.

Earlier, two women died in a mining hole near the location in Merangin, Antara reported. (***)
