Teacher caught selling illegal lottery tickets

Police in Jambi caught a teacher red-handed on Monday selling illegal lottery tickets in Kandang village, Tebo Tengah district.

Police also retrieved a list of bettors, a cell phone, Rp 4 million (about US$333) in cash and Rp 240,000 in cash from the sale of the lottery tickets.

'€œThe suspect, identified as MS, is a teacher at an elementary school. He was apprehended and immediately admitted responsibility for his actions,'€ said Tebo Police crime and intelligence unit chief Adj. Comr. Ridwan Hutagaol on Monday.

Ridwan said the arrest was carried out following public information that the area was of late rife with illegal lottery-ticket sales. Police followed up the tip, and upon arrival in the area they immediately located the suspect and evidence of the illegal dealings.
