fo Bulele, a worker from Nias, North Sumatra, went missing on Tuesday after being swept away by a strong river current in Sei Mandian village, Kepenuhan district, Rokan Hulu regency in Riau.
Rokan Hulu Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Aceng Herdiana said the victim was swept away by the flood as he was trying to cross the river by boat and with two other residents.
Efo's whereabouts remain unknown.
In Pekanbaru, a female rowboat athlete, Rubi Andriani, drowned as she was training on the Siak River.
'The Riau province rowboat team was training ahead of several national and international events at the end of the year,' said Riau chapter of the Indonesia Rowboat Sport Association head Sanusi Anwar. (***)
